Why would I write a topic about something that does not exsist.  its clear that I am discussing programming.  I know loads of people that do programming.  If programming didnt exsist neither would this forum.

You got it!!

It's obvious that I'm a PHP freak (developed IN on the CakePHP framework) but I have also love working with C#.  It's a fantastic language that brings together the speed and reliability of C with the ease of use of Java.  MSoft has released some great FREE basic versions of their VS product line that include everything you will ever need (their enterprise solutions are overkill for the average user).

We have a few projects that are on the back (verrrry back) burner which are being developed in C#. But, I think I am, and will always be, a web programmer at heart.  I love the fact that you can jump on ANY computer ... pretty much ANYWHERE in the world ... and use it without having to download/install software.  THe only gripe I have is the web isn't completely stateless yet.  I plan on taking InsideNation and evolving it into a cutting edge web app by taking advantage of the latest technologies such as AJAX.

Great!!I have never really ventured in to PHP.  The closest I get to Web programming is Dreamwever and HTML.  I have heard of the new AJAX scripting and now I hear they are setting a standard for all websites on the net.  Basically there will be a list of rules you have to obey to keep your site on the net.  This will cut out on peoples own sites that are not user friendly, in other words you can't just put anything on the internet which is unfair in a way because not everyone knows how to make the best site.  However on the upper hand it makes the internet a safer and more user friendly place.  I just wondered if it is easy to learn PHP like it is dreamwever or do you have to adopt some sort of syntax.Jason

There isn't much use of PHP outside of Web Programming. There have been pushes recently to bring it to more command line but speed is (and will always be) an issue with PHP since its NOT a compiled language. Essentially everytime you run a PHP script it "compiles" it on the fly.

Web Standards are necessary. I have been a Web Programmer for almost 10 years now and let me be the first to tell you how HORRIBLE it was working with browsers in the late 90's. These standards make sure that code is CORRECTLY displayed on all the browers. IE7 finally realized this and moved over to more WC3 specs -- which is so nice since IE6 had a laundry list of known compatability issues.

I just wondered if it is easy to learn PHP like it is dreamwever or do you have to adopt some sort of syntax.

PHP is a programming language.  You will have to learn syntax and method declarations to use it.

brandon, as a freak can you explain how hard is to do something like you have for the affiliate link?

I have a person who built a software which i want to adversite and by doing that i gain a % of the sales but he doesn't have any affiliate program and don't know how to do that.

He told me to send him by emails of the persons who signed thourgh me but that way i can't have full acess to see if the people really clicked and bought the software by my banner.

Is this hard to do?

thanks

I had taken some courses and at one point thought of getting into programming but never did.
