how long does the baseball take off between seasons?

The next season starts at the end of March and beginning of April.

usually the last week in march is opening day but spring training starts late feb./early march

I believe they do a game before April officially starts and then everyone else plays April 1st.  I could be wrong about that but that's how I'm remembering it happening.
