World Player of the Year
Here are the 23 nominees for the World Player of the Year:

Spain: Xabi Alonso, Iker Casillas, Cesc Fabregas, Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol, David Villa, Xavi Hernandez.
Holland: Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder.
Germany: Bastian Schweinsteiger, Miroslav Klose, Philipp Lahm, Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil.
Uruguay: Diego Forlan.
Argentina: Lionel Messi.
Brazil: Julio Cesar, Maicon, Daniel Alves.
Ghana: Asamoah Gyan.
Portugal: Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ivory Coast: Didier Drogba.
Cameroon: Samuel Eto'o.

My favourite player is from the list Asamoah Gyan,but he has not got any chance to win,unfourtunatly.In my opinion L.Messi or C.Ronaldo will be the winner.

I love Gyan too, I almost cried for him when he missed that pk in the World Cup against Uruguay. But it's not surprising that Messi won again

This is kind of off topic a little bit but I heard a report about the explosion in athletes salary over the last 30 years and they brought up the fact that pele made a little over $1 million a year, in today's money. And it just made me think about how pissed David Beckham would be if he barely made 7 digits...

Villa's a great choice, especially when you factor in his recent World Cup performance. Spain won, he scored the most goals in the tournament and was awarded the Silver Shoe. It's pretty hard to argue with that.
