The Miami Heat are not even close.

Bulls are definately in the running.  Showtime Lakers, Bird's Celtics, and Russell's Celtics are also great.

Ivey, I agree with basically everything you've posted on this topic... But one team you left out was the 1966-1967 Philadelphia 76ers. Not only did that team feature hall of famer Wilt Chamberlain and perennial All-Stars Hal Greer and Chet Walker but they also ended the Boston Celtics streak of 8 consecutive titles and won a then NBA record 68 games after starting 46-4!!! I don't know if I could confidently declare them the greatest team of all-time but they're definitely in the discussion.

Hey guys, these are some great teams for sure and I know the Knicks haven't been relevant since before I was born, but 1969-1970 New York Knicks are up there as one of the greatest! Hall of Famer and one of the "50 Greatest Players in NBA History," Willis Reed, was the NBA MVP as well as the finals MVP in a memorable seven game showdown with the Los Angeles Lakers. Throw in fellow Hall of Famers Dave DeBusschere, Walt Frazier and Bill Bradley and you have one of the best, definitely top three, teams of all time

This isn't one of the top 5 teams but it's the only one I can thing of that hasn't been brought up... The 88-89 Pistons. They had Isiah Thomas, Bill Lambeer, Joe Dumars and Dennis Rodman. Maybe not at the top of the "Teams You Want to Introduce to Your Grandma," but that attitude made them tough and one of the best defensive teams of the era. They went 15-2 in the playoffs, including a sweep of the Lakers in the Finals.

Those are some good suggestions.  It's nice to hear about teams that are actually great.  If the Miami Heat get there, then thats' cool, but they aren't even close to scratching the surface yet.
