Pujols $300 million!!!
So Pujols is looking for a 10 year $300 million contract... That is insane! You wanna talk about some serious cake, scrilla, duckets, frog skins, dead presidents, etc... Forget about the nearly half a billion dollars he's asking for, I can't think of one athlete that I'd give a 10 year contract to. NOT ONE! That includes NBA, MLB, NHL, NFL, MLS, World Poker Tour... NO ONE!

I agree Tim... I mean to bank that much money, or even any amount of money, on an athlete for ten years is just crazy!!! Albert's best years are behind him. The only guy I can think about is Kevin Durant... he's only 22 and he just keeps getting better. I would like to say Aaron Rodgers but he's 27, and I'm not excited about any 37-year old quarterback. What about someone like Ndamukong Suh? I know he's only played one year in the NFL, but damn that kid is a talented beast with a good head on his shoiulders and high football IQ. But yeah overall 10 years is alot, even for $100 million...

Pujols' best years might be behind him, but he's still going to be very productive for years to come. I'm not sure any player is worth the contract that Pujols wants. There are athletes that could be deserving of a ten year contract, and some that could be worth 30 million for a season (that list is extremely short & those athletes may never reach that potential), but no one that deserves both.

If Lebron actually lived up to being better than Jordan, like most people believe he will be, then he'd be worth it (as long as he was winning titles like Jordan did). Crosby & Ovechkin could be worth that in hockey, but it's not likely that they would get that much with the cap. Those are the only players that I can think of off the top of my head.

I don't see how that's a bad contract now, if he's only going to be 36 at the end of it. If it's Kobe doing it at the same age, then yeah it doesn't work out. Kobe's not the freakish athlete that Lebron is, but I think Lebron will end up being durable enough to last that long. Plus he's got more of a complete offensive game (which means you're not relying on him to just basically score).

I don't know Ivey, when players get old they always say that speed, explosiveness and athleticism are the first things to go. I don't think LeBron will be as good at age 36 as Kobe will because Kobe is a much better shooter. You're right though LeBron is an absolute freak and maybe conventional wisdom doesn't apply to him.

That is what I am saying. We've never seen an athlete as physically mature as Lebron at such a young age (please feel free to let me know if there was one in basketball), so we can't be sure when he will truly slow down. Also like I said, Lebron has a much more complete game than Kobe does, so I don't believe his value will decrease as much as you do. Kobe is the better shooter, but in a couple more years that's all Kobe will have & his value will drop A LOT.

Yeah but an old man kobe will be ever to get his shot off untill he's sixty, Lebron won't be able to bull his wasy intio the lane like he does now... Even look at Jordan he used to be a dominant player (in all pahases basically), but when he came back he coukldn't take it to hole but he developed that jump shot that gave him longgevity. Look at a guy like Vince Carter, He's nowhere near the athlete Lebron is but as he's aged look at his game, spot up 3-point shooting... The only problem ins Vince has a more pure stroke thatn Lebron.
